"Mickey, wake up before I come up there and hit you in the head with a frying pan! Breakfast is ready, and you need to wake up Kat and Sam!"
Michelle Caylin rolled over in bed and groaned softly. She dragged herself out of bed, shuffled across the room, but on black pants, a black T-shirt, and her long black coat. She splashed herself in the face with cold water, and it woke her up. She exited her room and walked softly down the hall. She entered a bright, sunny room. In the center of this room was a small twin bed. Sitting on this bed was a golden haired ten year old.
"Hey, you're already dressed!" Michelle said. The girl turned around and smiled at her. She then said:"You know you don't have to talk aloud all the time."
"I know, Kat. I'm just not used to using telepathy." Michelle replied.
You might want to get used to it, Mickey. I forget that you have a hard time using telepathy, and I use it a bit more often now. Do you want me to wake up Gale?
The voice in her head wasn't hers, it was Kat's. Kat could do that sort of thing. She was good at it.
Kat exited the room, leaving Michelle alone. Mickey. That was her nickname. Mickey Mouse. Mickey didn't love the name, but it was better then Michelle.
She exited the room and walked down the creaky old stairs. She turned right and entered a room that could be a musician's paradise. Headphones, speaker, CDs, MP3s, iPods, stereos, and cords where scattered around the floor. This was Sam's room.
Sam was already awake, as usual, listening to music. She seemed to be lost in her own world.
"Sam. Saaam. Sam. Samantha. Sam! SAM!!!" Mickey said, trying to get Sam's attention
"What?!?!" Sam said, looking up. "Oh, it's time for breakfast. Alright, I'll be up in 2 seconds."
She got up and speeded out of the room. Literally. She was a blur when she moved. She was there 1 second, then gone the next. But that was normal for her.
Suddenly, aloud wail shattered the calm of the household. It was incredibly loud. Mickey plugged her ears and yelled: "Someone turn him off!"
A few seconds later, the wailing stopped. Mickey sighed, and headed for the kitchen. Once she was there, she saw Coal cooking pancakes without the use of the stove. Kelly was sitting at the table talking. Gale, the whiner, was running around the room with Kat chasing after him. Sam was bobbing her head to some strange metal music at the speed of light, and their mother, as usual, was absent from the table. Mickey sat down at the table just as Coal finished the pancakes. He put plates piled high with steaming, delicious pancakes in front of everyone. Everyone began to eat.
"So, how old are you today, Kelly?" Coal asked.
"14" she replied.
Kelly's 14 today? But she said yesterday that she would stay five so she could play with Gale!
Kat said to Mickey in her mind. Calm down Kat. We'll figure out who's gonna play with Gale. Just eat your pancakes.
Just another day in the Caylin family.
The Powers. Thats what they were called. Everyone who knew the Caylins called them that. Only the Caylin family really knew why though. Mickey sat down at the table and began to eat.
